Volunteer Opportunities

Glorious Church Ministry has a place of ample opportunity for those who are so interested and enthusiastic to do God’sministry in Nepal as a volunteer. We warmly welcome and cordially invite all national and international organizations, and any individuals, to collaborate with us in doing God’s ministry. Volunteer work is mostly orientated around the Orphanage but other opportunities exist in fields such as Agriculture/Farming, Rural development,  Public Awareness Program, Environment Care and incentive programs, Gospel outreach, Church planing and building, Christian education etc. 

Volunteering in Orphanage: We welcome all individuals, couples and or groups to join with us. As an orphanage in a poor country we have struggling in so many areas. We want you to go together being part of this collecting lots of experience. This  volunteer work is a great mission and provides a real, life-changing experience for you as well as the children. Some orphanages serve as informal education training centers, and when you volunteer to become involved in this program, you will be teaching these innocent children what it means to have someone who cares for them.

Work of the Volunteer:  Teaching homework, music, dance, drama, new worship songs, cooking, other fundraising, games, exchanging culture and many other activitys.

Food: Volunteer will be serving what generally we have traditional food. The local staple is ‘DHAL BHAT’ which is rice with lentil soup and vegetables. We also have a very good water filter system.

Program & Accommodation Fee:                                                                                      

Administrative Fee - US$50 (one time). This includes:

  • Registration, application and placement process
  • Transportation to and from airport

 

Private Room - US$350 (each month). This includes:

  • Accommodation and main meals during placement
  • 24-Hour Internet Access at Volunteer Program Office
  • Cultural sightseeing
  • Placement donation for running costs

 

Money is spent on children’s education, health care of children, food, stationary, house rent, power bills etc.

Money: The local currency is Nepalese rupees. Exchange rate at the end of 2011 is roughly 78NPR=1USD. There are many ATM's available and you can also exchange your foreign currency at many places. A cup of tea costs 10NPR.

Weather: The nicest time of the year is from October through March when it is generally dry and warm during the day, getting cooler at night and into the winter months.

Seasons:

Spring starts from March to May. The temperature of this season fluctuates between 10 °C to 30 °C.

Summer starts from June to August. Which is the pre-monsoon months so they have occasional evening-thunderstorms and hot temperature. Monsoon is sometime around july/august. (20-30°C)

Autumn starts from September and ends by November. During this period, the climate is dry and mild with temperature  fluctuating between 15 °C to 30 °C.

Winter starts from December to February. The morning and evening are very cold while the afternoon is pretty sunny. The temperature during these months rises from 2 °C to 20 °C.

It will be good for you to bring clothes according to weather.

Health: Several inoculations are required prior to coming to Nepal, some requiring a course of treatment before you leave. Visit your nearest traveler's medical centre or your general practitioner to discuss your needs.

Visas: Tourist visa for 30 days can be obtained by paying US $40. Similarly, Tourist Visa with Multiple Entry for 90 days can be obtained by paying US $100.

Tourist Visa can be extended by paying US $2 or equivalent Nepalese currency per day.

You can stay in Nepal for 5 months out of any 12 month period on a tourist visa. A tourist visa can be extended upto this 150 day maximum from any visa you purchase.
